Bed of Roses is a 45ft Traditional Narrowboat that was built in 1994 by John White, it was professionally refurbished in May 2019 at Glascote Basin.

The hull is in excellent condition (hull survey April 2019), all items highlighted in the survey have been undertaken with the following works being completed:

Well Deck:                 

Bed of Roses has an open well deck and there are steps that lead down into the saloon. The well deck has been re-painted as part of the boats refurbishment.


The saloon is an open area with space for free standing furniture, the saloon has a solid wood floor that runs through the length of the boat, the floor has been re-varnished. The hull sides, cabin sides are painted T&G, which makes it a light and bright airy space. The area is heated from a recently refurbished solid fuel stove which sits on a quarry tile hearth with a tiled surround. There is storage under the well deck.


Bed of Roses has an ‘L’ shaped galley, the galley is equipped with a 4-ring gas hob, oven and grille, which is brand new and a 12v fridge. The work surfaces are laminate and there is a stainless steel sink, the galley has a tiled splash back. There is also another unit on the starboard side of the boat.


The bathroom is located off a starboard side corridor, the bathroom has a Thetford cassette toilet, a basin set into a vanity unit and a shower in a tiled cubicle with a shower door.


The bedroom has a fixed 4ft double bed, there is a full height wardrobe in the bedroom.

Engine Room:

The engine room is at the stern of the boat and houses a Beta Marine 4-cylinder engine, which was serviced in June 2019. The engine bay has been re-painted, stern gear and prop shaft replaced and the engine room boards have been replaced with Hexagrip deck boards.
